We are approved by the South African Department of Labour to test, repair and approve welded steel and portable gas cylinders. We also handle seamless steel and aluminium cylinders for compressed and high-pressure gases such as oxygen, nitrogen and welding gases like argon.
The business is EN17020 compliant, and we run a quality management system in accordance with ISO 9000.
Collection, delivery and live status
Our own fleet of trucks collects and delivers cylinders for clients throughout South Africa.
Cylinder data and stock are managed electronically. Customers can log on to our database to check the status of any order and stock availability in our warehouse.
Cylinder testing services
Full hotwork repair of welded steel cylinders and re-certification of high-pressure cylinders in accordance with SANS 10019. The process can include:
Specialised service: proof testing of new cylinder designs, for example in accordance with ISO 4706.
- Valve removal, degassing and initial inspection, including internal inspection
- Hotwork repair: replacing foot rings and collars, and removing dents
- Post-weld heat treatment up to 920°C
- Hydrostatic pressure test from 2400 kPa to 32000 kPa
- Shotblasting, usually 40 micron at SA 2.5 or to customer requirements
- Zinc metal spray using a thermal arc process
- Painting to customer requirements
- Valve fitting and finishing
Low-volume cylinder manufacturing
We manufacture welded steel cylinders in low volumes for specialised industries, including fire suppression (FM200 and AFFF). Our cylinders carry the “pi” mark and are suitable for sale in Europe.
